  • As of December 1, 2026 South Denver Gatroenterology (SDGI) is set to no longer longer accept UnitedHealthcare plans. However, network issues are likely to resolve.

    We have until December 7th to submit applications to change Advantage Plans for January 1st and then again January - March for a one-time-opportunity to change with an effective date the 1st of the month following application.

    This call will be canceled if SDGI+UHC arrive to agreed rates for UHC to be back in their network.

  • Dec. 31, 2025 - UHC PPO plans with national networks did not offer a renewals in Denver Metro nor for many Rocky Mountain Plans for 2026.

    Dec. 31, 2026 - UHC PPO plans in the northern and southern regions with national networks are not offering a renewal for 2027.

    As of January 1, 2026 the only UnitedHealthcare PPO plan in Denver Metro and many mountain towns was a Dual SNP which means it’s regional and for low-income folks. This remains true for 2027.

    UnitedHealthcare PPO Plans in Colorado are nearing extinction. However, most of my career these PPO options with $0 premium or low-premium were non-existent with any company.

  • Despite bringing back referrals, in Denver Metro and our neighbors to the north and south down to Pueblo, the biggest network lies with UnitedHealthcare.

    And, clients on PPO and Original Medicare continue to report there are times specialists require referrals regardless, even on routine care when it’s not required. That is up to the provider.

Colorado Humana Advantage Members (HMO/PPO)

  • CommonSpirit Announcement: “CommonSpirit Health has reached a three-year national agreement with Humana that will allow Humana members to maintain in-network access to CommonSpirit Health services, facilities, and providers across its 24-state footprint, including a reestablishment of the relationship in parts of Colorado and Texas. This successful conclusion to nearly a year of collaborative and transparent discussions with Humana reinforces CommonSpirit’s commitment to serving patients with Medicare Advantage under sustainable terms.”

    Humana Announcement:
    “Humana and CommonSpirit Health have committed to a three-year national partnership agreement, ensuring Humana members will continue to have in-network access to CommonSpirit Health’s services, facilities and providers. It covers a 24-state footprint, including renewed access in parts of Colorado and Texas.:  

  • Aspen Medical Group confirmed on 10.19.2026 they no longer accept Humana plans in 2027.

    Applies to Humana HMO and PPO networks.
    Medigaps are not network based as they follow Original Medicare.

  • Humana PPO Plans will no longer work for patients in 2027 at Optum Primary Care Practices, this includes exercising the PPO plan out-of-network benefits.

  • Pinon Family Practice is joining Rocky Mountain Direct. As of January 1, 2027, they will no longer bill commercial insurance, Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, health-share plans or other third-party payers for any services. You’ll need to enroll in a monthly membership to continue with this practice as well as be in a plan that does not require referrals and will work with this practice.

    Original Medicare or Advantage PPO are the desirable options to keep a concierge primary care provider so they can do what they need to do.
